Chief Scouts Award

Matthew Bartlett, James Pope, Jeremy Lumbers and Joe Blakeman have achieved the top award a Scout can gain – the Chief Scouts Award.

Chief Scout Award Scouts

To gain the Chief Scout’s Award a youngster has to show true commitment and determination through a series of difficult challenges, giving up many hours of their spare time. Just a few of the tests our Scouts passed included:

  • Navigating to the summit of Snowdon in Wales.
  • Assisting with various tasks at our old people's home, Lake House, and at Adderbury Lakes.
  • Adventurous activities such as high speed karting, mountain biking and caving.
  • Successfully completing the thirty mile Cyril Gardner Hike around the Oxford area.
  • Taking part in a survival camp.
  • Cooking a VIP Meal.
  • Running camps and night exercises for other members of the Troop.
  • Performing a dance routine before an audience.
  • Studying the pressures young people are under to take up smoking.
  • Attending a training day and learning team building and man management skills.
