If you're over ten years old and live within three miles of Adderbury you could join Adderbury Scouts.   But why would you want to?

What's Adderbury Scouts really like?

What its not is sitting round tying knots and getting bored!

What it is is an amazing list of fun events, trips away, games, exciting activities, time with your mates, meeting new people, and getting out.

We meet every Tuesday night, sometimes inside, and at other times playing games outside and doing sports.   As well as that there are special nights with activities like karting, bowling, camp fires, biking, laser quest, and loads more.

As well as that there are extra activities during the weekends and school holidays.   You could be doing things like gliding, climbing a mountain, canoeing, camping, jet skiing, sailing a narrowboat ... and more!

Have a look on the activities page to see some of the things we've done recently.

The highlight of the year is our week long Summer Camp.

And if you think Scouts isn't for you, well we challenge you to give it a try and prove us wrong!

Andy has overall responsibility for everything the Troop does.   With over twenty years experience as a Leader, and as a Scout before that, Andy knows just what it takes to put together an exciting programme Scouts at Adderbury will love.

Andy has strong organisational skills and has run trips for Scouts to Austria and Florida in the past, and co-ordinates the annual Summer Camp.   He's also an astute business professional and manages the Troop's accounts keeping activities within budget, and within acceptable levels for parents.

Andy also ensures compliance with all rules and regulations.

Outside Scouting Andy works in the radio industry as a broadcaster and consultant.   You may even hear him from time to time on stations like Newbury Sound, Reading 107, Banbury Sound, Mix 96 and Kestrel FM.

John grew up in a Scouting family – his father was a Scout Leader and his mother a Cub Leader.   He holds the Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award and has been involved with 1st Adderbury for 18 years since he was called in to act the part of a criminal trying to steal Scout funds at an ”observation” themed meeting!

He is proficient in Scouting's basic skills and self survival techniques and takes a leading role in the training of our members in these areas.   As an electronic engineer John also provides the infrastructure for computers and communications when the troop is camping in remote areas.

John is married with two children aged 7 and 10 and currently works as Production Manager for a local engineering company.

Olly first became involved with 1st Adderbury as a Cub, followed by a full five years in Scouts, where he became a Patrol Leader, and later Senior Patrol Leader.   As a Scout Olly received the Chief Scouts Award.

Today Olly has 8 years experience as a Leader and works with Andy and John in running the Troop's programme, taking responsibility for organising specific meetings and activities.   He also assists with the smooth running of Summer Camp.

Olly is responsible for the initial training of new members to the Troop in order to help them achieve the Membership Badge.

Olly lives in Adderbury and away from Scouting holds a senior managerial position, responsible for a large number of staff as the branch manager of the retailer Next in Stratford-upon-Avon.
